The Squatch Cave
One of my favorite places to hang out—when I’m not deep in the woods or spending time with my family—is right here in my Squatch Cave. Sure, it’s technically my home office, the same space where I run virtual MBTI® workshops, certification programs, and one-on-one coaching sessions.
To my clients, it probably looks like a tidy, well-lit Zoom square with a polished consultant in frame. But just outside that tidy rectangle? That’s where the real magic (and mystery) lives.
Lining the shelves just out of sight of the camera is a growing collection of squatchy paraphernalia—books, track casts, maps, audio equipment, field notebooks, and, of course, the star of the show: Howie, my official sasQuest mascot. He’s got a prime perch where he keeps a watchful eye on my work.
Audio research is one of my favorite aspects of this journey. I’ll go into more detail in future posts, especially about how I use the Song Meter Micro recorder (a little powerhouse that’s changed the way I listen to the forest). Once I dive into those audio files, time disappears faster than a trail cam battery in the backcountry.
There’s something oddly perfect about blending personality theory and Sasquatch research in the same space. One moment I’m helping a team discover their communication styles, and the next I’m analyzing a mystery knock or a strange vocalization from deep in the Cascades. It’s all about listening closely—whether to people or the forest—and following the clues with curiosity and care.
So welcome to my Squatch Cave, where MBTI meets mystery, and business casual includes a pair of hiking boots just off-camera.
